Pre-Christmas and Christmas: Which beers should I try?

The Christmas season is fast approaching and is almost upon us, which is why we at Beer Republic want to liven up both these coming weeks and the month of December for you.

We present the VBB Advent Calendar that the teams at Guineu, La Quince, and La Pirata have put together!

To celebrate the pre-Christmas period in the best way possible, the three breweries have joined forces to create a magnificent advent calendar full of love and happiness in beer format.

It is a unique and unrepeatable selection of 24 beers for 24 days (8 from each brewery) featuring the best of what each house has to offer. Among the many surprises, you will find a ton of new releases and many different beer styles: some more classic in nature, others more innovative and daring, hoppier styles... And this is just to whet your appetite; we don't want to give too much away!

Christmas Beers

Since we are in Christmas mode, we want to take the opportunity to tell you a bit about Christmas Ales, beers specifically created to be enjoyed during these festivities.

This type of beer is characterized by nuances, aromas, and flavors intimately related to the Christmas season: sweet aromas, certain fruity notes that tend to recall the taste of raisins or plums, and flavors inspired by Christmas sweets like ginger or maple syrup. This, added to the high level of maltiness, makes them the perfect beers for these special dates.

A local beer, the Hivernale from Montseny. It is a Christmas Ale defined as a warm and comforting beer in flavor and aroma thanks to the roasted malts and the use of star anise in its production.

From Belgium, the St. Bernardus Christmas Ale. It is a Strong Ale style beer with a fruity and spicy aroma, and a flavor intensified by a sweetness that reminds us of candied fruit.

The Christmas beer par excellence is the Samichlaus, an Austrian Doppelbock-style beer whose production process begins every December 6th, St. Nicholas Day, and which is aged from one year to the next to celebrate the festivities.

At Beer Republic, you will be able to find these beers and many more—step right up and take a look!
