La Calavera is much more than a craft brewery: it is a declaration of principles, a fermented journey from a farmhouse in Ripollès to the most demanding tables in the world craft. Founded in 2011 by Mikel Mendizabal and Marc Baulida, this Catalan brand was born as a homemade hobby that, over time, became a fermented passion over low heat and in barrels. Today, with its own factory in Sant Joan de les Abadesses, La Calavera is one of the most respected references of the experimental brewery scene.
Their evolution has been as natural as it has been disruptive. They began with classic-cut Ale beers, but soon they plunged into the more complex terrains of the Barrel Aged, specializing in aged beers in barrels with long ripening processes. The result is a range of soul-based beers, designed for an audience that not only seeks to drink, but also discover, explore and question the limits of what we mean by beer.
The philosophy of La Skull is clear: produce less, but better. Always maintain quality above quantity, respect the ripening times, and let each beer express itself at its own pace. In an increasingly fast brewing world, they continue to bet on the real craft. That’s why their beers don’t just drink... they live.
