Delirium Tremens is much more than a beer: it is a global brewery symbol born in Melle, near Ghent, Belgium. Made since 1988 by the historic Brouwerij Huyghe — one of the oldest breweries in the country, active since 1654 — this beer emerges as a response to the request of an Italian importer who was looking for a powerful drink with an equally striking image.
This is how Delirium Tremens was born, a triple cereal beer, intense, complex and unique, dressed in its unmistakable bottle of ceramic style and a label that represents ironically and provocatively the phases of ethyl delirium... including its famous pink elephant. In 1997 it was named “the best beer in the world” and, according to influential brewer critic Michael Jackson (not that), it was his personal favorite.
Its success was immediate and resounding, giving rise to a whole family of Delirium beers: Nocturnum, Red, Christmas... all of them retain the provocative character, the artisan quality and aromatic power that define the brand.
Delirium Tremens is not just a beer: it is an experience that combines history, visual identity, and an explosion of Belgian flavor that has gone around the world.
