Irish Beers

To talk about beer in Ireland is to talk about Stout or dark beer; to talk about Stout is to talk about Guinness.

Guinness has become an Irish national icon. The use of the Irish harp in its logo, the diaspora of Irish immigrants around the world and specifically in the United States, coupled with powerful and intelligent advertising campaigns, have turned Guinness into a symbol in Ireland.

But beer in Ireland is more than just this iconic brand. Despite the reign of stouts, small local brewers, both craft and traditional, are resisting and fighting for their space in the Irish market. The very existence of the Pub (Public bar) is another great cultural reference, especially in rural Ireland, where for generations the Pub was the only place to socialize, and in turn, it was a generator of traditions and a center of local traditional culture.

The Craft movement is strong in Ireland. In recent decades, a large number of brewers have been combining traditional Irish beer with the latest styles, with brands like Porterhouse in Dublin being a clear example.
