Kasteelbier

Kasteelbier beers were born in Belgium in 1989, when the brewery Van Honsebrouck decided to bet on the production of abbey beers, rich in nuances and with a more complex character. Although their launch marked a new chapter, the history of the brewery dates back to 1900, when Emile Van Honsebrouck, a brewer by family tradition, founded his first factory in a small farm in Ingelmunster.

For decades, the brewery stood out for its lager beers and later for its lambic, until in 1986 the Van Honsebrouck family acquired the majestic castle of Ingelmunster. This imposing construction, erected in 1075 by Count Roberto I of Flanders on the ruins of an English monastery, not only became the symbolic heart of the brand, but also gave it its name. Today, the castle proudly appears in every Kasteelbier label, as a symbol of authenticity, tradition and beer elegance.
