This style of beer is characterized by being brewed in Trappist monasteries, where the monks, who are governed by the Latin rule ora et labora, supervise its production. Today, Trappist beer is brewed both to finance the work done by the monks and to support and contribute to good causes.

It is important to mention that for a beer to be categorized as Trappist, it must meet three requirements:

Firstly, the beer must be brewed within the walls of the abbey.

Secondly, its production must be carried out under the supervision of the monks.

Thirdly and lastly, a large part of the income must be dedicated to social works.

This beer style could be said to be one of the great international references in beer culture, well-known by experts and great beer enthusiasts.

Typically, these are beers with high alcohol content and rather sweet flavors.
