Dutch Beers

The Netherlands and Belgium not only share the Dutch language, but also history, culture, and tradition, especially concerning beer. The brewing tradition peaked in medieval monasteries, just as in Belgium, but unlike Belgium, the evolution of styles has not been as varied. Despite this, beer consumption in the Netherlands is among the highest in Europe, mainly due to the influence of one of the largest multinational beer companies based in Amsterdam. It is only in recent decades that small local breweries have emerged, born from the boom of craft beers in Europe, without forgetting some Trappist breweries in the country that have kept the flame of traditional beer alive.
