¡Ya tenemos ganadores del 8º Campeonato Nacional de Cervezas!

We now have the winners of the 8th National Beer Championship!

On December 10th, the final of the 8th National Beer Championship was held at the Siesta Brewing Co. factory in Burgos.

The National Beer Championship is organized by ACDCAC, the Cultural Association for the Dissemination of Craft Beer in Catalonia, in collaboration with La Fira del Poblenou de Cerveses Artesanes, and its purpose is to award the best commercially produced beers in Spain.

To grant these awards, this Championship relies on a jury composed of recognized members of the national and international beer community and BJCP judges, who blind-taste each beer to determine the winners of each participating category.

In addition to all the awards per category, this Championship features 2 special awards: Best Beer of the Year and Best Brewery of the Year.

The Trophy for Best Brewery of the Year is obtained by adding up the medals won in the categories; each medal is equivalent to a score: gold is 3 points, silver is 2 points, and bronze is worth 1 point.

In contrast, the Trophy for Best Beer of the Year is awarded to the beer that achieves the highest score among all the beers entered.

This 2022, the winners of these special awards were:

  • Best Brewery of the Year went to Basqueland.

Second place went to Almogàver and third place to Mala Gissona.
  • Best Beer of the Year went to the Menorcan brewery Graham Pearce, in the Stout category, with a score of 8.77.

You can check all the winners by category on the official website of the Championship, https://elcampeonato.beer/.

At Beer Republic, you can buy some of the beers awarded in this championship.
