Description

Hanssens Oudbeitje is a jewel of Belgian brewing tradition, a spontaneously fermented lambic that combines the wild complexity of the barrel with the delicacy of the strawberry. Refined, gastronomic, and deeply expressive, this beer is a sensory experience that connects the world of craft beer with that of natural wine and haute cuisine. Each bottle is a living piece, with a second fermentation that brings depth, elegance, and evolution in the glass. Belgian lambic made by spontaneous fermentation and re-fermented in the bottle. Balanced sour-fruity profile, light structure, aromatic complexity, and great aging potential. A beer meant to be enjoyed slowly and attentively.

Character, Taste, Aromas:

Aromatically, it stands out for a very singular combination of ripe strawberry, natural yogurt, soft vanilla, lactic notes reminiscent of aged cheese, and a vinous background that recalls a dry Riesling. On the palate, it maintains a delicate balance between fruity sweetness and fine acidity, with a fresh, light, and very elegant sensation. The fruity profile blends with lactic and vinous nuances, leaving a clean, complex, and surprisingly persistent finish.

Culinary Pairing:

It is perfect for accompanying soft and semi-cured cheeses, especially goat cheese or young cheddar style, fish tartares, carpaccios, salads with fresh fruit and nuts, lightly spiced Asian cuisine, foie gras, and desserts that are not excessively sweet such as cheesecakes, panna cotta, red fruit salads, or white chocolate, where the acidity and fruit profile enhance the overall dish without overwhelming it.

If you are looking for a different, elegant beer with the soul of a wild wine, Hanssens Oudbeitje is a top-tier choice. Discover why fruit lambics continue to be Belgium's most gastronomic treasure.
