Description

Hanssens Schaerbeekse is a legendary Oude Kriek, crafted with the scarce and prized Schaerbeekse cherries, a local variety that is almost extinct and highly valued in the world of spontaneous fermentation beers. Considered by many to be the holy grail of Kriek, this beer offers a complexity and depth hard to find, combining tradition, patience, and exceptional raw materials. An essential reference for lovers of authentic lambics and acidic beers with character.

Characteristics:

Style: Oude Kriek (Lambic with cherry)

Alcohol Content: 6.0% ABV

Hops: Traditional Belgian hops (moderate use, not protagonist)

Serving Temperature: Between 8 and 10 °C

Color (EBC): Approx. 25–30 EBC (deep ruby red)

Bitterness (IBU): Very low (approx. 5–10 IBU)

Character, Flavor, Aromas:

On the nose, it displays an elegant and complex profile, where deep red fruit, bitter almond, subtle notes of vanilla, and a spicy background stand out. On the palate, it is vibrant and precise, with a well-defined lactic acidity, less directly fruity than a conventional Kriek, and with a greater prominence of tertiary nuances. The finish is dry, long, and refined, with hints of wood and a clean, persistent sensation.

Food Pairing:

Excellent with duck a l'orange, creamy cheeses like a truffled Brie, or nut-based desserts, especially almond tart.

Add Hanssens Schaerbeekse to your cart and discover one of the most iconic and complex Kriek in the world, an authentic gem of Belgian lambic tradition.
