Technical Data Sheet
Description
Samichlaus is a legendary beer in the brewing world and a true rarity for lovers of extreme beers. Recognized as the strongest bottom-fermented beer in the world, this Austrian specialty reaches at least 14% alcohol, sometimes approaching 15% in certain vintages. It is brewed only once a year, every December 6th, and after its first fermentation, it undergoes a very long cold lagering process for a full year, with periodic transfers to reactivate fermentation. After bottling, it can continue to evolve for years, developing a complexity worthy of a spirit.
Characteristics:
Style: Doppelbock
Alcohol Content: 14% ABV
Serving Temperature: 12 – 14 °C

Character, Flavor, Aromas:
On the nose, it surprises with deep aromas of cognac, ripe fruits, and sweet notes. On the palate, it presents a firm and enveloping body, with flavors of cherry, crème brûlée, and caramel, accompanied by a long, warm, and spicy finish with hints of pepper. The alcohol is present but perfectly integrated, providing complexity and a liqueur-like sensation.
Culinary Pairing:
This is not a beer designed for classic pairing. It is best enjoyed as a dessert drink or digestif, similar to brandy. Ideal for accompanying high-purity dark chocolate or for savoring alone, slowly, on special occasions.
