Technical Data Sheet
Description
Thornbridge Panela is a special porter born from a collaboration with Pura Panela, a specialist in Colombian panela, traditionally made from dehydrated sugarcane juice. This raw material adds a unique dimension to the classic porter recipe, providing depth, complexity, and a distinct aromatic profile. The incorporation of high-quality Colombian coffee completes the ensemble, resulting in an intense, structured, and nuanced beer, where brewing tradition and origin product are in perfect balance.
Characteristics:
Style: Porter / Coffee & Panela Porter
Alcohol Content: 7% ABV
Serving Temperature: 10 – 12 °C
Color (EBC): Very dark brown, almost black, typical of the Porter style
Bitterness (IBU): Medium bitterness, integrated with the roast
Character, Flavor, Aromas:
Deep and very expressive profile where classic notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and roasted malts combine with the unique nuances of panela: hints of brown sugar, rustic caramel, and sugarcane. The Colombian coffee contributes a clean and elegant aromatic character, without harshness. The ensemble is complex, layered, with a very well-achieved balance between natural sweetness, roasts, and a soft bitterness that structures the finish.
Culinary Pairing:
Ideal for pairing with chocolate desserts, brownies, tiramisu, or coffee pastries. It works excellently with blue cheeses and very mature cheeses, where the contrast between intensity and sweetness is especially appealing. It is also a great option for quiet after-dinner drinks or as a tasting beer, perfect to enjoy calmly and with attention to detail.
