Description

Westmalle Dubbel is an authentic top-fermented Trappist beer, with secondary fermentation in the bottle and 7.0% alcohol. This dark beer has a historical origin dating back to 1933, when Westmalle Abbey refined its traditional "Dubbel Bruin" recipe, resulting in this robust and characterful brew. With a Trappist designation of origin, it is made with the highest quality ingredients such as roasted malt, its own yeast, selected hops, and brown candi sugar. Its fruity body and caramelized notes make it an excellent choice for pairing with hearty dishes or enjoying as a perfect aperitif.

Character, Flavor, and Aromas:

It stands out for its fruity aroma with notes of caramel and roasted malt. On the palate, there is a balance between the subtle sweetness of brown candi sugar and the pronounced flavor of roasted malt, complemented by a soft hint of hops. Its character intensifies towards the end, where secondary fermentation adds greater complexity and roundness. The aftertaste is smooth and robust, progressively releasing the nuances of its ingredients.

Culinary Pairing:

Westmalle Dubbel is a versatile beer that can be enjoyed both alone and with food. Ideal for pairing with toasted bread and ham, fresh cheeses, or small game such as partridge or pheasant. It also perfectly complements rabbit dishes or stews, where its malty character and balanced sweetness contrast with the intense flavors of these foods.

This Trappist beer is a perfect choice for those seeking a drink with history, depth, and character that complements any moment, from aperitif to a sophisticated meal.
