IPA Half

The Half IPA is a modern proposal that seeks to offer all the aromatic character of an IPA but with half the alcohol and half the body. It is the brewing industry's answer to today's lifestyle, which demands flavorful yet lighter beer that is easy to drink during long sessions and compatible with more moderate consumption. It occupies a unique space between a Session IPA, an APA, and low-alcohol beers.

In the glass, it shows a golden yellow to light gold color, with a creamy white foam and, depending on the recipe, a slight haze. On the nose, aromas of modern hops (citrus, tropical fruit, peach, fresh grass) dominate as the true stars. The malt base remains very much in the background to maintain a light sensation. On the palate, it is light-bodied, with minimal sweetness, moderate and well-integrated bitterness (25-45 IBU), lively carbonation, and a very dry, clean finish. The alcohol content ranges between 3.2% and 4.5%, clearly below a standard IPA.

It is brewed with pilsner or pale malts as a light base, flaked oats or wheat to add a bit of body and mouthfeel, and a significant load of modern hops in the boil and dry hopping to compensate for the low initial gravity with aroma.

It is an ideal beer for long afternoons, terraces, matches, picnics, or when you want to pair it with food without feeling overwhelmed. It pairs well with light cuisine, Asian food, fish, salads, or appetizers. It should be served between 5°C and 7°C in a tulip glass or pint glass.
