Hazy IPA

The Hazy IPA is a family of IPAs characterized by their cloudy appearance and an especially juicy, fruity aromatic profile. It encompasses both creamier NEIPAs (New England IPAs) and the many modern reinterpretations that share something in common: a gentle bitterness, enormous amounts of hops applied cold, a soft malt base, and a round texture that is very different from classic American IPAs.

In the glass, it displays an intense golden-yellow color, usually very cloudy, almost opaque, with a creamy, persistent white head that clings to the glass. On the nose, it explodes with aromas of tropical fruit (mango, passion fruit, pineapple, peach), citrus (orange, mandarin, grapefruit), notes of juice, fresh grass, and a slightly resinous background. On the palate, it is very velvety, with a medium to full body, silky mouthfeel, moderate sweetness, well-integrated mild bitterness (30-50 IBU), and a finish with fruity persistence. The alcohol content ranges between 5.8% and 7.5%.

It is brewed with pilsner malt as a base, a significant proportion of oat and wheat flakes that provide body and stable turbidity, modern hops such as Citra, Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, or Strata applied massively in dry hopping in one or more stages, and specific ale yeasts (London Ale III, Vermont, Conan) that enhance the fruity character.

It is a beer intended to be drunk fresh and young. It pairs with Asian cuisine, sushi, ceviche, spicy food, burgers with creamy cheeses, or fruit-based desserts. It should be served between 6 °C and 8 °C in a tulip glass. An essential collection for lovers of the most expressive hop aromas.
