Rye IPA

The Rye IPA is a variation of the IPA style that incorporates a significant proportion of rye malt into the grain bill. This cereal provides a very distinct sensory profile: spicy, peppery notes, a silky texture, and a drier, more mineral finish than conventional IPAs. It is a style appreciated by craft brewers looking to put a twist on the classic IPA recipe and by enthusiasts who enjoy beers with personality.

In the glass, it displays a color ranging from deep gold to light amber, with a creamy off-white head and good retention. On the nose, the classic citrusy and resinous range of American hops appears (grapefruit, orange, pine, tropical fruit), along with spicy, peppery, and rye bread notes contributed by the malt. The overall sensation is that of an IPA with an additional layer of complexity. On the palate, it stands out for an especially silky texture and dry malty sweetness, with a pronounced bitterness (45-65 IBU), lively carbonation, and a very dry, spicy, and refreshing finish. The alcohol content ranges between 5.5% and 7.5%.

It is brewed with pale base malts, a significant proportion of rye malt (10-25%), small additions of caramel malts, classic or modern American hops in the boil and dry hopping, and neutral or slightly fruity ale yeasts.

It is an ideal beer to accompany spicy food, Tex-Mex, curry, glazed ribs, pastrami, cured meats, or blue cheeses. Serve between 7 °C and 9 °C in a tulip or pint glass. A perfect collection for IPA fans looking to explore profiles that are somewhat different from the norm.
