NEIPA

The NEIPA (New England IPA) is one of the most revolutionary styles of the last decade. It was born in New England (USA) around 2010 at the hands of breweries like The Alchemist (Heady Topper), Tree House, or Trillium, which committed to a new IPA paradigm radically different from the classic West Coast style: hazy, juicy, velvety, and with minimal bitterness. Its impact has been so great that today it is likely the most imitated IPA style in the world.

In the glass, it shows a golden-orange yellow color, opaque like natural fruit juice, with a creamy white head with excellent retention. On the nose, it explodes with spectacular aromas of tropical fruit (mango, passion fruit, pineapple, papaya), juicy citrus (orange, tangerine, grapefruit), peaches in syrup, and fresh grass. The sensation is that of smelling freshly made juice. In the mouth, it has a medium to full body, a silky and velvety texture thanks to the oats, moderate sweetness, very mild bitterness (30-50 IBUs but perceived as much less), and a long, fruity, and clean finish. The ABV ranges between 6% and 7.5%.

It is brewed with pilsner malts, a very high proportion of flaked oats and wheat (up to 30-40% of the grain) which provide stable haze and a silky mouthfeel, modern hops like Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic, Nelson Sauvin, or Strata applied massively in dry hopping, and, above all, yeasts like London Ale III, Vermont, or Conan that enhance fruity esters.

It is a beer designed to be drunk very fresh. It pairs with Asian cuisine, sushi, ceviches, spicy food, or creamy cheeses. It is served between 6°C and 8°C in a specific tulip glass.
